I have been currently living in my apartment in West Philadelphia with 5 other friends from my university. It is dirt cheap, but we live in an area that is not the safest and our landlord is unreasonable in a lot of aspects. I have an opportunity to move in with a friend I am much closer with, but would have to pay an extra $315 a month ($3780 for the year). Those $3800 would be a lot of money that I could use to save for my future, but with no responsibilities to pay for college or my rent now (my parents pay for both), I feel that I should ease into the adult responsibility of paying bills. In this time of economic turmoil, is it better for me to save for the future or learn responsibility?
Thanks!

Well, would your parents be picking up the tab at the new place? If so, then I don't see the harm in living safer - But if you're paying for it, make sure you do the math. I would almost always pick safer digs over money, but it really depends on your income and comfort level of where you are now.
