That is, when you feel wronged by a company (be it a salon, a bakery or retail shop) you make yourself feel better by rating them poorly on not just one website but as many as you can?
Can companies retaliate if they realize who it is? It's an opinion or an experience so it's okay to put it out there, or is it slander/liable? They might accidentally on purpose charge your credit card and then have it take forever to fix, or something...
(This doesn't apply to employers, past or present, that's definitely poor form.)

After terrible service at Alltel, We filed a complaint with the store manager and the employee probably got fired. You have to take make sure what they did was worth the complaint, because they may loose their job or get a serious written reprimand.
1No, they can't do anything about it - if someone does, report it directly to the manager. Usually the General Manager of the store, salon or otherwise is the person to contact. If there is a rating website, do review them, but be polite.
The same goes with excellent service! If someone provides excellent service, do call the manager and give them a good review. Many stores offer their employees perks of little gifts of acknowledgment for a phone call from a client or customer.
well it's the owner of a gym that was the problem. the anytime fitness gyms are all individually owned under one name but managed individually.
i wrote my online review and he saw it because someone who had a bad experience there forwarded it to him and he sent me and angry email complete with capital letters and all.
which only proved to me he really wasn't misunderstood and it's not just me being over sensitive. he was a prick and totally unprofessional.
but yeah i understand if someone has a bad day or service is slow it might not be worth getting them fired over.
