Today I was wondering how many of you have tried online banks? Banks that don't have offices or counters.
I did some research on online banks (for my region of course, I live in Belgium) and
I found out that they are very safe and (!) give double the intrests normal banks do.
All those big, natinonal banks charge you all sorts of costs (some don't until you reach the age of 26)
and you get, something in return if you are lucky. That online bank gives me the double!
Which is unbelievable but true.
Then again I know saving and having a bankaccount is less popular in the USA then in Europe...

I do my banking only online but it is a 'real' bank (I could go to a bank branch if I wanted to), so I don't think that helps.
1I actually have both. I use a banking on-line that has an actually office. Then I use ING Direct and they do not have a live back here where I live but I just found out they are building one here. But, I utilize the on-line bank with my live bank account to transfer money back and forth. You are right the online banks that just have online services offere way better interest rates.
2I have my regular accounts at Bank of America and then I have two online savings accounts at ETrade and ING Direct. I find that this is a good way for me to allocate my money because online banking makes it easy to transfer my money while getting a higher interest rate (even though the interest rates are AWFUL right now).
